GO TO-U is introducing Live Activities – bringing real-time charging session updates directly to the iPhone Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, and Apple Watch.
Instead of reopening the app to check whether charging has started, how much energy has been delivered, and when it is time to return to the vehicle, drivers now see key session data at a glance.
A driver might grab a coffee, take a walk, sit through a meeting, or simply continue with their day. Live Activities keep the session visible in the background, making it easier to manage time without managing the app.

How It Works
Live Activities follow the main stages of the charging journey.
When a driver starts a session in the GO TO-U app, the Live Activity appears automatically.
After the vehicle is connected, we briefly show a waiting state while the first metrics arrive from the charging station. Once charging begins, the Live Activity switches to the active view and displays session data in real time.
When charging ends but the cable remains connected, we remind the driver to return and unplug. This keeps the experience smooth for the current driver and improves charger availability for the next one.
For Green Pin stations with reservation enabled, Live Activities can appear up to 30 minutes before the session starts when a driver makes a reservation or opens the app during that period. Once charging begins, it switches to the active charging view with real-time session data.

Charge Without Watching the App
Live Activities are another step in making EV charging more transparent, structured, and user-friendly. By surfacing session updates directly into the iOS experience, we remove unnecessary app interactions and help drivers stay in control of their time.
Live Activities depend on iOS system behavior, network connection, device settings, and charging data availability from the vehicle and station. In some cases, certain metrics may be unavailable or updates may appear with a slight delay.
Available on iPhone devices running iOS 18.1 and later.
